Coffee Trip

Peru is considered one of the few countries offering highest rated organic coffees in the world. Jaen is located at an average 800m above sea level (2,600ft), almost bordering Ecuador with a perfect climate and characteristics for coffee and cacao plantations, being the area that gathers the best coffee producers in Peru.

In this trip you will be able to learn from the certified producers getting to know their techniques and procedures and getting to experience with them their activity. Also, this area is famous for its waterfalls, you will visit one of them with the possibility to do zipline. As well a National Reserve protecting flora and fauna endemic to the area. A trip that will awake your senses and consciousness.

Itinerary

Day 1

Morning flight Lima/Jaen (1-hour duration). Transfer to your hotel in Jaen and relax the rest of the morning. Pick up for lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, our first visit will be to a family project who are beekeepers and will show you how they produce natural, unadulterated and unprocessed honey. Tasting of different honeys with different medical purposes. Back to hotel. Opportunity to visit one of the best toasters and coffee shops in the area. Overnight in Jaen.
 

Day 2

Morning departure to head to Finca Los Pinos, walk through its coffee plantations guided by one of the responsible of this sustainable project of offering organic coffee mainly for export. Tasting of its coffee. Just next to this project, we visit Finca San Antonio, where you will observe plantations of different endemic fruits, cacao, and of course coffee. Learn the handcraft way of toasting and grinding. Lunch at Los Pinos and transfer to San Ignacio for an afternoon free. Overnight in San Ignacio.

Day 3

Drive to the Tabaconas Namballe National Sanctuary. In this 2-hour drive, you will enjoy views of waterwalls, coffee plantations, valleys and reforestation areas. Once you arrive you will walk mainly to observe orchids and birds. This sanctuary is mainly focused in protecting flowers, birds and big mammals such as the tapirs and spectacled bears which with luck you may be able to observe. Lunch and return. Today is long day as it is an 11-hour excursion. Overnight in San Ignacio. 

Day 4

Depart to visit the most famous waterfall in the area located in the district of Huarango (almost 2-hour driving). Walk in a beautiful cloudforest to get next to the “Bella Encantadora” waterfall. Option to do an amazing zipline over the waterfall. Lunch at a local restaurant and visit the “Laguna Azul”, a beautiful lagoon in the area. Back to San Ignacio and overnight.
 

Day 5

Drive for almost 2 hours to get Shumba airport in Jaen.
